Who and what is BRAG?

Buckeye Region Agility Group's first classes began in March of 1995. The founders were Lisa Baird, Rick Bokanyi, Joanne Buehner Brown, Carol Moore, Dave Seeger, and Pam Williams Brown. In 1996 Bill Sterling joined as an owner, and passed away in March, 2000. The current Board of Directors of BRAG, Inc. includes Lisa Baird, Joanne Buehner Brown, Patti Hansen, Mary Lee Raines, Dave Seeger, and Pam Williams Brown.

In 1995, we were looking for somewhere to do agility training with our own dogs and also to offer quality classes of limited size to the public. At that time, there was no where in the area that was concentrating solely on agility that met those criteria. Finding a location to hold training was not an easy task, and the first BRAG classes were held in the somewhat cramped space of a veterinary/boarding facility in Hilliard. We then moved to the Franklin County Fairgrounds, first to the Dellinger Building with its asphalt floor, and then to the Burke Arena. Next we moved to a privately owned horse arena in Hilliard. And now we have our own 9600 sqft training facility in the Columbus/Hilliard area.

The other reason to start our own agility group was to host events. We held our first USDAA sanctioned trial in September of 1996, with an entry of over 100 dogs. Recent trials have had over 200 dogs entered. Thanks to the tremendous help we receive from our students, and even their families and friends, our trials enjoy a reputation among agility exhibitors of being friendly and efficient. We have supported Delaware Ohio Kennel Club in their endeavor to add AKC Agility to their existing conformation shows with our first AKC trial in April of 2000. In December 2005 we added another venueŚCanine Performance Events (CPE).
